J&K: Two Hizbul Mujahideen Terrorists Killed In Anantnag Encounter

Anantnag Encounter: The two deceased terrorists have been identified as Danish Bhat aka Kokab Duree and Basharat Nabi.

Two Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists were killed on Tuesday during an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district. The two deceased terrorists have been identified as Danish Bhat aka Kokab Duree and Basharat Nabi.

Following a tip-off about the presence of militants in Poshkreeri area, a cordon-and-search operation was launched by security forces. 

Soon, the militants opened fire on the security forces and an encounter ensued. 

"The killed terrorists have been identified as Danish Bhat aka Kokab Duree and Basharat Nabi, both affiliated with proscribed terror outfit Hizbul Mujahideen. Both were involved in killing of one Territorial Army personnel Saleem on April 9, 2021, and killing of two civilians on May 29, 2021, in Jablipora," said ADGP Kashmir.

Mohammad Saleem Akhoon, a Territorial Army soldier, was shot dead by terrorists in Bijbehara area of Jammu and Kashmir at his residence. Saleem was a solider of 162 Inf Bn TA (Ikhwan) and was on leave when the incident happened. He sustained severe head injuries.

Saleem  was awarded Chief of Army Staff Commendation Card twice and a Northern Army Commander Commendation Card.

On May 29, 2021, two civilians, including a 20-year-old student, were killed in firing by terrorists at Parray Jablipora in Bijbehara of Anantnag district. The civilians were identified as Sanjeed Ahmad Parray, 20, and Shahnawaz Ahmad Bhat, 35. 

There have been a series of encounters between terrorists and security forces across Kashmir over the last few months, in which many terrorists and their commanders have been eliminated.

On September 1, two terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces at Sopore in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district.

The previous day, three LeT terrorists were killed in an encounter at Nagbal area in Shopian district. Incriminating materials, arms and ammunition were recovered from the encounter site.

The slain terrorists were identified as Danish Khursheed Bhat, a resident of Ladi Imamsahib; Tanveer Ahmad Wani, from Amarbugh Imamsahib; and Towseef Ahmad Bhat, belonging to Chermarg.
