J&K: Mujahideen Gazwatul Hind Terrorist, 2 Hizbul Members Killed In Srinagar, Kulgam Encounters

The Kashmir police has identified the terrorist killed in an encounter in Srinagar on  Thursday as Aamir Riyaz of Khrew, Pulwama.

New Delhi: In Jammu and Kashmir, two encounters broke out Thursday evening in Srinagar and Kulgam. Kashmir police IGP Vijay Kumar informed that three terrorists have been killed in the two separate operations and an investigation is being carried out.

Two terrorists were killed on Thursday and another was neutralised on Friday morning. 

The Kashmir police have identified the terrorist killed in an encounter in Srinagar on Thursday as Aamir Riyaz of Khrew, Pulwama.

The Kashmir police IGP Vijay Kumar said that Riyaz was affiliated with proscribed terror outfit Mujahideen Gazwatul Hind. “He was a relative of an of the accused of Lethpora terror attack and was assigned to carry out fidayeen attack,” said IGP Kumar. 

In another encounter in the Kulgam district of South Kashmir, two terrorists were killed who were identified as Shiraz Molvi and Yawar Bhat. According to Kashmir police, they were affiliated with Hizbul Mujahideen.

“Shiraz was active since 2016 & was involved in recruiting innocent youth into terror ranks & several civilian killings. A big success for us” tweeted Kashmir zone police. 

The encounter in Srinagar broke out in the evening in Hamdaniya Colony area of Bemina here, the officials had told PTI on Thursday.

“The operation continues near the CRPF camp and the office of a sub-divisional police officer,” they added.

 “Incriminating materials including arms and ammunition recovered. Search operation underway,” Kashmir zone police informed on their Twitter handle.
