J&K: Four Militants, Including JeM Terrorist Who Killed Sub-Inspector Eliminated In Two Separate Encounters

Two JeM militants were killed in south Kashmir's Pulwama, while two unidentified militants were killed in north Kashmir's Sopore.

New Delhi: Four militants were killed in two separate encounters in the Valley on Tuesday. Two JeM militants were killed in south Kashmir's Pulwama, while two unidentified militants were killed in north Kashmir's Sopore, news agency ANI reported.

On June 20 and 21, a joint team of J-K Police, Army, and paramilitary forces cordoned off the Tulibal neighborhood of Sopore in north Kashmir after receiving intelligence about the presence of militants in the area.

While the joint team was conducting search operations, the gunmen opened fire while trying to break the security cordon. The joint team responded with fire, which led to an armed clash that lasted for several hours.

In a separate gun battle in Pulwama, south of Kashmir, two Jaish-e-Mohammed fighters were killed in Tujan village. Police sources said a gun battle started before dawn in Tujan village in Pulwama when a joint team of troops cordoned off the village after receiving information about the presence of militants.

Police said that while the gunmen tried to break the security cordon by opening random fire, the joint team returned fire, killing two of the gunmen.

“JeM terrorist Majid Nazir, killer of SI (Sub Inspector) Farooq Mir has been neutralized in Pulwama encounter,” Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Vijay Kumar said.

Within the last 48 hours, five gunfights have occurred in the Kashmir Valley between militants and the armed forces, resulting in the deaths of 11 militants.
