J&K: Firefight Ensues Between Terrorists And Security Forces At Srinagar Hospital, Search Ops Underway

The Srinagar Police said, "There was a brief firefight between terrorists and security forces at SKIMS Hospital, Bemina. Terrorists managed to escape taking advantage of civilian presence."

New Delhi: Terrorists in Srinagar opened fire at security forces at SKIMS Medical College in the Bemina region of Srinagar on Friday, news agency ANI reported. 

The Srinagar Police in a statement informed, "There was a brief firefight between terrorists and security forces at SKIMS Hospital, Bemina. Terrorists managed to escape taking advantage of civilian presence."

Following the incident, a search operation has been launched. 

Srinagar had recently witnessed a series of attacks on non-local migrant labour. A street vendor from Bihar was killed on October 16 and a carpenter from Uttar Pradesh was killed the next day. Two more migrant labourers were killed and one sustained injuries, ANI had reported. 

Following this incident, thousands of migrant labourers working in Kashmir started fleeing out of the state in fear, reported PTI.

Around three to four lakh migrant labourers come to Jammu and Kashmir in search of work in skilled and unskilled jobs and return when the winters begin. 

Earlier in the month of October, three civilians were killed in Srinagar one of them being Makhan Lal Bindroo, a pharmacist and owner of Bindroo Medicate. 

People’s Democratic Party chief Mehbooba Mufti had condemned the attack and tweeted, "Condemn the killing of Shri ML Bindroo who chose to stay back in Kashmir even during the peak of insurgency. Such acts of violence have no place in our society. May his family find the strength to deal with this loss."

Recently, Home Minister Amit Shah had visited the CRPF camp in the Pulwama district. 

On the occasion of Diwali, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Nowshera sector of Jammu and Kashmir to celebrate Diwali with soldiers.
