ITBF Officers’ Mess In Leh Declared As Containment Zone After Reports Of Covid-19 Cases

ITBF Officer’s Mess has been declared as a containment zone after several cases of Covid-19 were reported. No relaxations will be provided in the area.

Leh: Due to Covid-19 positive cases being reported, the District Magistrate Leh Sachin Kumar Vaishya issued an order regarding the containment of ITBF Officer’s Mess, near main marker Leh.

The order reads that "the objective of this cluster containment is to stop transmission, morbidity and mortality due to Covid-19."

It further states that for the purpose of active surveillance, the whole of the containment zone will be supervised by their own medical officers and staff nurses.

There will be a complete restriction on inward & outward movement from/to the containment zone and no relaxations will be given. Meanwhile, the medical department will ensure the sampling of individuals as per MOHFW guidelines.

A Buffer Zone comprising the rest of the office compound area has also been notified. The surveillance activities to be followed in the Buffer Zone are:

  • Review of ILI/SARI cases reported in the last 14 days by the District Health officials to identify any missed case of Covid-19 in the Community.
  • Enhanced passive surveillance for ILI and SARI cases in the Buffer zone through the existing Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme.
  • In case of any identified case of ILI/SARI, the sample should be collected and sent to the designated laboratories for testing Covid-19.

As expected, all the workplaces within the containment zone will remain closed till further orders. Joint Deputy Director, ITBF, Leh will ensure all the contact officers/officials during the office work/meeting hours, undergo strict home quarantine.
