'Shouted For Help, No Bystander Came': IT Employee Molested Near Tech Park In Bengaluru

According to police officials, the molestation took place around 11:30 PM while the victim was walking in the vicinity of the tech park.

A 20-year-old woman employed with an IT company was allegedly molested late Wednesday night in Bengaluru. The incident, which occurred in a high-surveillance zone near Eco World Tech Park under the Marathahalli police station limits, has prompted city police to launch an intense search for the unidentified suspect.

'Man Touched Inappropriately'

According to police officials, the molestation took place around 11:30 PM while the victim was walking in the vicinity of the tech park. A man on a motorcycle approached her from behind and allegedly touched her inappropriately before speeding away, reported IANS. The woman, shocked and terrified, raised an alarm and screamed for help as the man continued to harass her by touching her back repeatedly before fleeing the scene.

The woman reportedly shouted for help and stopped the people but alleged that no one came to her rescue even though it was a bustling area, as per a report on NDTV.

Despite her loud cries for assistance, the victim stated that no one—neither nearby auto drivers, security guards, nor passers-by—came forward to help. Even in a well-patrolled area, this lack of intervention has sparked fresh outrage and intensified demands for improved public safety measures for working women in Bengaluru’s IT hubs.

Police Launch Manhunt

The woman, who hails from another state and works in Bengaluru, promptly approached the police and filed a formal complaint. Based on her statement, the police registered a First Information Report (FIR) and launched an immediate manhunt for the suspect.

As part of the investigation, officers have obtained CCTV footage from the surrounding area. Police confirmed that significant clues have emerged from the video evidence, and efforts are underway to track down the accused at the earliest.

This incident follows a recent high-profile molestation case that occurred on April 14 in Bengaluru, where two women were assaulted in a residential locality during the early morning hours. The assault was captured on video, which later went viral, leading to public outcry and the eventual arrest of the accused by Karnataka Police.
