Is RBI introducing new Rs 200 note?

New Delhi: To curb the struggle of getting change for the high denomination notes of Rs 2000, the Reserve Bank of India is likely to introduce lower denomination notes of Rs 200. As per reports, RBI has already approved the proposal to introduce Rs 200 note. If the reports are true, then this would be for the second time that new notes are introduced, then this would be second time since Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s demonetisation announcement where old Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes were discontinued on November 8, 2016. As per reports, the proposal has been already approved by RBI and is pending at Government’s end. It is only after the government’s clearance that the printing of the new notes will be started. As per reports, no notes will be demonetised in lieu of the Rs 200 notes.
