Indira Gandhi, not Narendra Modi, governed like Hitler: Ravi Shankar Prasad

Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad expressed his shock over the statement and said that it was former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi who governed the country like the Nazi leader and not Prime Minister Modi.

NEW DELHI: After Congress leader Malikarjun Kharge compared Prime Minister Narendra Modi with German autocrat Hitler, Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad expressed his shock over the statement and said that it was former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi who governed the country like the Nazi leader and not Prime Minister Modi. "Shocking that senior Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge ji equalled Modi ji with Hitler. I want to tell him it was Indira ji who governed like Hitler," Prasad said. He further said that Kharge cannot even move an inch without the permission of the family (Gandhis). "This is the same Kharge ji who can't even move an inch without the permission of the family," the law minister said. Earlier, while speaking at an event organized in Mumbai, Kharge said “PM Modi is trying to get the same autocracy in India like Hitler got in Germany”. He further said that “Constitution is in danger and we need to fight against BJP’s attempt to destroy it”. Kharge said that “Ever since BJP has come to power, it has destroyed freedom of expression and are continuously imposing censors on the press”. He said “BJP could not walk even 4 steps correctly in last 4 years. They have no right to question Congress and ask us what we did in last 70 years”. Further targeting Prime Minister Modi, the Congress leader had said that the government is restricting the freedom of speech and curbing the Press.
