India-UAE Summit: PM Modi, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince To Hold Virtual Summit Today – Here’s What’s On Agenda

PM Modi and the Crown Prince have exchanged meetings several times in the past since 2015. The PM had visited UAE in 2015, 2018 and 2019 while the Crown Prince had come to India in 2016 and 2017.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of UAE Armed Forces Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed al Nahyan are scheduled to hold a virtual summit today. 

“Both leaders are expected to lay out their vision of the historic and friendly relations between the two countries, at a time when India is celebrating 75 years of its Independence as Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and UAE is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its foundation,” stated a press statement by the Ministry of External Affairs

Both the heads of nations will hold discussions regarding bilateral cooperation and exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual interest.

“Both sides have collaborated closely during the Covid-19 pandemic in critical areas of healthcare and food security. Bilateral trade, investment, and energy relations have remained robust. The two sides are also strengthening their cooperation in new areas of renewable energy, start-ups, fintech, etc. India is participating with one of the largest pavilions in the Dubai Expo 2020,” the official statement further read.

PM Modi and the Crown Prince have exchanged meetings several times in the past since 2015. The Prime Minister had visited UAE in 2015, 2018, and 2019 while the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince had come to India in 2016 and 2017.

The External Affairs Minister has also visited the UAE three times till now whereas the Commerce and Industry Minister has also visited one time to the Arab nation in 2021.

Around 3.5 million people of the Indian diaspora are living in the UAE. An Air Bubble arrangement was agreed upon by both the nations in 2020 during the Covid-19 outbreak “which has enabled the movement of people between two countries despite the challenges posed by Covid-19.”
