In Second Batch, 266 Indian Nationals Rescued From Myanmar Scam Centres

266 rescued Indian nationals from Southeast Asian call centers returned home after 283 were repatriated earlier. Embassies collaborated with Myanmar and Thailand to secure their release.

As many as 266 Indian nationals were rescued and repatriated to India after being rescued from call centres in South East Asia on Tuesday. This comes a day after 283 Indian nationals were evacuated by a C-17 Indian military plane.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Randhir Jaiswal, official spokesperson of Ministry of External Affairs wrote, "Government of India arranged for the safe repatriation of 266 Indians yesterday by an IAF aircraft, who were released from cybercrime centres in South East Asia. On Monday, 283 Indians were similarly repatriated."

He added, "Indian Embassies worked with Myanmar & Thailand governments to secure their release & facilitate their repatriation."

Earlier, the ministry of External Affairs said that the government had been making sustained efforts to secure the release and repatriation of the Indian nationals lured to various southeast Asian countries, including Myanmar, with fake job offers.
