CDS Anil Chauhan Gets Z+ Security By Delhi Police On MHA Order: Report

CDS Anil Chauhan Gets Z+ Security: Nearly 33 armed Delhi Police officers will be stationed at Chauhan's residence and during his travel.

Delhi Police has provided the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Gen Anil Chauhan, with Z+ protection on orders from the Ministry of Home Affairs on Monday, PTI reported. Nearly 33 armed Delhi Police officers will be stationed at Chauhan's residence and during his travel, news agency ANI reported.

"CDS Gen Anil Chauhan has been provided with Z+ protection on the direction of MHA," a senior police officer told news agency PTI.

Chauhan was named India's new Chief of Defence Staff on Friday, with responsibility for carrying out the ambitious theaterisation plan, which aims to promote tri-service cooperation and equip the armed forces for upcoming national security challenges.

Over nine months after the first CDS Gen. Bipin Rawat died in a helicopter crash in Tamil Nadu, Gen. Chauhan, a former Eastern Army Officer, assumed command as the country's senior-most military commander.

For the first time, a retired three-star officer has been promoted to four-star status.

General Chauhan was born on May 18, 1961, and joined the Indian Army's 11 Gorkha Rifles in 1981.

General Chauhan held several command, staff, and instrumental appointments during his nearly 40-year career, and he had extensive experience in counter-insurgency operations in Jammu and Kashmir and northeast India. He attended the National Defence Academy in Khadakwasla and the Indian Military Academy in Dehradun.
