India Has Shown World The Real Meaning Of Anti-Fragile, Says PM Modi

At the summit, PM Modi emphasised the Centre's efforts to uplifting India's poorest citizens by expanding banking and sanitation infrastructure.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated on Friday that India has demonstrated incredible resilience and set an example of an anti-fragile system in its fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, news agency PTI reported.

At the 7th edition of the Economic Times Global Business Summit 2023, PM Modi emphasised the Centre's efforts to uplifting India's poorest citizens by expanding banking and sanitation infrastructure. "Our govt transferred Rs 28 lakh crore under welfare schemes through DBT," he said.

Speaking about the pandemic, PM Modi stated: "In last 3 yrs, when world was suffering sometimes from Corona, sometimes from war & sometimes from the challenges of natural disasters, India & Indians displayed unprecedented strength.India has shown the world the real meaning of anti-fragile," ANI reported.

"India has confidently shown the world how a crisis is changed into opportunities. By studying the capability shown by India at the time of the biggest crisis in 100 years, humanity will be proud of itself after 100 years," he further stated.

"When taxpayers are assured that the tax they are paying is being used for the country, then they are more likely to pay their taxes. I'm thankful to the people for trusting the government. Our trust in them will only increase their trust in us," he said.

He also mentioned how the country's infrastructure policy has been redesigned in recent years. "We've created a new model for infrastructure. The best example of it is our digital infrastructure. We've laid six lakh kilometres of optical fibre in the past nine years. Data prices have dropped 25x. Indians are now contributing to 40% of global digital payments," he said.

Highlighting benefits of Gati Shakti platform, PM Modi said: "The Gati Shakti platform has 1,600 layers of data to ensure that decisions are made better. Deciding where to place a school in a developing area is now a data-driven decision and not one of political clout."

The Economic Times Global Business Summit 2023 is sponsored yearly by The Times Group, according to a statement issued by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) on Thursday.

"Resilience. Influence. Dominance" is the summit's theme. The two-day conference will take place on February 17-18, according to the announcement.

The summit brings together thought leaders, policymakers, academics, and business executives on a single platform to address important economic concerns, according to the announcement.

The conference includes over 200 business executives speaking in 40 sessions.
