The deceased student has been identified as Darshan Malviya. A Powai police station official informed that Darshan had written a message on the board in his hostel room stating no one should be held responsible for his death.

According to PTI, Darshan Malviya’s body was spotted by a watchman outside the seven-storey hostel building. He called up an official of the institute and later police were informed.

The student was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead before admission, the police official said.

Darshan Malviya hailed from Madhya Pradesh. He was pursuing a postgraduate course at the Indian Institute of Technology since last July.

His family members were informed about his death, the official stated.
