'Hope PM Will Condemn Targeted Violence During I-Day Speech’: Asaduddin Owaisi On Nuh Demolitions

Owaisi said he hoped that during his Independence Day speech from Red Fort on Thursday, PM Modi will condemn the “targeted violence” if he has “even a bit of affection with the Muslims of India.”

All India Majlis e Ittehadul Muslimeen chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Monday condemned the demolition drive in Nuh which comes as an aftermath of the violence and hoped that Prime Minister Narendra Modi too will speak against it in his Independence Day speech on Thursday. “We are going to celebrate Independence Day tomorrow and you are giving this message to the people of this country especially Muslims of Nuh who sacrificed everything for the freedom of this country,” said the Hyderabad MP, as reported by news agency ANI.

Terming the demolition as a “collective punishment” to one community, Owaisi said, “We condemn the violence but you are giving collective punishment to one community, where is PM’s sabka saath, sabka vikaas, sabka vishwas?”

“Are there no courts or laws in this country? Is there no need to follow due process,” he asked, adding that the demolitions were a violation of the Supreme Court’s order.

“In the case of Jahangirpuri, the Supreme Court had clearly said that due process should be followed. You gave them a backdated notice and within one day made thousands of people homeless,” he said.

Owaisi said he hoped that during his Independence Day speech from Red Fort on Thursday, PM Modi will condemn the “targeted violence” if he has “even a bit of affection with the Muslims of India.”

“I hope the PM would stand and say that the way a religion is being targeted, he condemns that be it the rail shooting incident or the violence,” adding that he condemn those people as well who are using social media to create hatred against one section of the community.

Cornering the Centre on demolitions he asked where these bulldozers were not being used. “It was used in UP, Haryana, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh. Why did Amit Shah bring the three bills to replace CrPC, IPC and Evidence Act if you have yourself become the law and courts.”

“I hope the PM will take note of this and give a strong message because this would be his last speech before elections,” he added.
