Hindu Raksha Dal Chief Pinky Choudhary Arrested For Raising Communal Slogans At Jantar Mantar

A senior police officer said that Choudhary was arrested near the Mandir Marg Police Station at around 2.30 pm on Tuesday.

Pinky Choudhary Arrest: Hindu Raksha Dal chief Bhupinder Tomar alias Pinky Chaudhary, accused of raising communal slogans at a rally in Jantar Mantar, was arrested by Delhi Police on Tuesday.

In a video released on Monday, Chaudhary can be seen denying all the allegations levelled against him. In the video, he claimed that he would surrender in front of the Police on Tuesday and cooperate in the investigation.

A senior police officer said that Chaudhary was arrested outside Mandir Marg Police Station at around 2.30 pm on Tuesday. The Police had registered a case against him after a video surfaced on social media. He has been recorded raising anti-Muslim slogans during the Jantar Mantar protest in New Delhi on August 8.

Delhi Police has already arrested eight people including Uttam Upadhyay, Ashwini Upadhyay, Preet Singh, Deepak Singh, Deepak Kumar, Vinod Sharma, Vineet Bajpai and Sushil Tiwari in the case.

Raids were being conducted throughout the national capital and also in neighboring states, in a bid to arrest Chaudhary.

In the video that surfaced on Monday, Chaudhary said, "Neither I nor anyone else in my organization has done anything wrong at Jantar Mantar. However, I respect the court's judgment and will surrender at Connaught Place Police Station at around 12 noon on August 31."

Chaudhary added, "Every person has the right to go to court and I did the same. All the allegations levelled against me are false and baseless. I have dedicated my life to Hinduism and Hindutva. As long as I am alive, I will continue to work and fight for my religion." The Delhi High Court on Friday had refused to grant interim bail to Chaudhary, thereby ordering his arrest. A sessions court in New Delhi also rejected Chaudhary's anticipatory bail plea earlier this month."
