India Bigger Than Hindi, Hindu And Hindutva: Owaisi Slams Amit Shah's Message On Hindi Diwas

New Delhi: Soon after Amit Shah pushed for Hindi as a unifying language for India and said that not all Indians have Hindi as their mother tongue, All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi slammed Home Minister and said that Hindi is not every India's mother tongue. In a tweet on Saturday, which is being celebrated as Hindi Diwas, Owaisi said, "Hindi isn't every Indian's "mother tongue". Could you try appreciating the diversity & beauty of the many mother tongues that dot this land? Article 29 gives every Indian the right to a distinct language, script & culture. India's much bigger than Hindi, Hindu, Hindutva". Earlier in the day, Shah suggested that India needs one unifying language to represent the country at global platforms and there is no better language than Hindi for the purpose. "India is a country of different languages and every language has its own importance but it is very important to have a language of the whole country which should become the identity of India in the world. Today, if one language can do the work of tying the country to the door of unity, then it is the most spoken Hindi language," Shah said in a series of tweets in Hindi, he tweeted. "Today, on the occasion of Hindi Day, I appeal to all the citizens of the country that we should increase the use of our mother tongue and also use the Hindi language as one language to realise the dreams of Bapu and iron man Sardar Patel. Happy Hindi Day," he added. Even PM Modi greeted the nation on the occasion of Hindi Diwas and said that simplicity, spontaneity and decency of the Hindi language give meaning to the expression. ""Many congratulations to all of you on Hindi Day. The simplicity, spontaneity and decency of the language give meaning to the expression. Hindi has incorporated these aspects beautifully," he tweeted in Hindi.
