Here's whom Mulayam Singh Yadav blames for SP's defeat in UP poll
New Delhi: Mulayam Singh Yadav blamed the media and voters for the party's electoral loss in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls in which BJP got majority.
The Samajwadi Party (SP) patron Yadav claimed that the media only highlighted the family feud in the party, while the people of state were "befooled" by the BJP.
"Despite rendering a good performance (by the Akhilesh Yadav government), the voters inflicted a defeat to the SP. The people were befooled by call of Chal Modi - Chal Modi, and they went with the BJP.
"The media only gave prominence to the family feud of the Samajwadi Party family. If the media had shown anarchy during the SP rule, it must highlight the same during regime of other parties as well," Yadav said while speaking to reporters in Etawah, reported PTI.
Talking about entering into a coalition the SP patron said to defeat BJP, SP is capable on our own.
Interestingly, recently in a public outburst against son Akhilesh Yadav, Mulayam Singh Yadav had said his son had insulted him which led to the party's poll debacle.
The voters understood that "one who is not loyal to his father, cannot be loyal to anyone", Mulayam Singh Yadav had said.
That was the first time after SP's defeat in the UP assembly election, Mulayam laid bare his anger.
"I was badly insulted, which I had never faced in my life. Nevertheless, I tolerated. No leader of any party in India had made his son a chief minister during his lifetime, but I made Akhilesh the Chief Minister of UP," he said, reported PTI.
SP got only 47 seats out 403 in the Assembly election. BJP got huge majority in the state polls and made Yogi Adityanath Chief Minister of the Uttar Pradesh.
