‘He Won In 2014, But Should Worry About 2024’: Nitish Kumar Takes Jibe At PM Modi

Nitish Kumar took the oath for the Chief Minister of Bihar earlier today while RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav was sworn in as the deputy Chief Minister.

New Delhi: After breaking ranks with the Bharatiya Janata Party and joining hands with the Rashtriya Janata Dal, Nitish Kumar turned aggressive towards his former ally and Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying that the PM “should worry about 2024”, reported news agency ANI. Nitish also said that he is “not a contender” in the race for Prime Minister, something that was being speculated as the reason for him to end the alliance.

“Those who came to power in 2014, will they be victorious in 2024?  I would like all (opposition) to be united for 2024. I am not a contender for any such post (on PM post),” said the Janata Dal United chief.

Nitish Kumar took the oath for the Chief Minister of Bihar earlier today while RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav was sworn in as the deputy Chief Minister.

Responding to Sushil Modi’s statement after the split who said that the Mahagathbandhan government will fall before the next polls and that Nitish would “ditch RJD” as well, the latter said that the “new government will run just fine”.

"Nitish will ditch RJD and try to split it taking advantage of Lalu's illness", former Dy Chief Minister of Bihar said during a press conference in Patna, just hours ahead of the oath-taking ceremony of the new Mahagathbandhan government in Bihar.

Cracks had started to appear between the BJP and JD(U) among the NDA after Ram Chandra Prasad Singh was in touch with members of JD(U) after his resignation. Fearing ‘Maharashtra MVA-like situation’ by the BJP, Nitish Kumar called a meeting of party MLAs and MPs after which it was reported that Nitish has quit the alliance.
