Haryana Polls: BJP Releases First List Of 78 Candidates; Fields Wrestler Babita Phoghat From Dadri
In Haryana, the BJP will go to polls under the leadership of incumbent Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar who will be contesting the elections from his bastion Karnal.
New Delhi: Ending days of speculations, the Bharatiya Janata Party, on Monday, released its first list of candidates for the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections.
The party released names of 78 candidates in the first list. Only 12 names now remain left to be announced.
The party has provided tickets to all the three newly inducted sportspersons - Babita Phogat, Sandeep Singh and Yogeshwar Dutt.
Wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt, will be contesting from Baroda assembly seat, while former-hockey captain Sandeep Singh will be contesting from Pehowa.
Wrestler Babita Phogat will be contesting from Dadri assembly seat.
In Haryana, the BJP will go to polls under the leadership of incumbent Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar who will be contesting the polls from his bastion Karnal.
State BJP chief Subhash Barala is being fielded from Tohana.
While 38 sitting MLAs are being repeated by the party, 7 others have been replaced.
Two candidates from the Muslim community has been given the ticket this time by the saffron party.
The state will be going to polls on October 21, along with Maharashtra, while the counting of votes will be done on October 24. Haryana Vidhan Sabha has the strength of 90 seats out of which 17 are reserved for SCs and none for STs. There are 1.82 crore registered voters in the state out of which 1.07 lakh are service voters. The process of filing nominations for Haryana began on September 27. The last date of filing nominations is October 4 and the scrutiny will take place on October 5.
