Guru Nanak said 'sab kuch tera', Akalis' motto 'mera mera': Rahul Gandhi

SANGRUR: With just two days left for polling in Punjab, Rahul Gandhi on Thursday stepped up his attack against the ruling Badals. Invoking Guru Nanak, the first Sikh Guru, Congress Vice President said that Nanak used to say 'Sab Kuch Tera' while Akalis say 'Mera Mera'. The Nehru-Gandhi scion attacked the Akalis for allegedly plundering Punjab and appealed people to vote for the Congress in the February 4 polls. Gandhi said, "drugs have taken away their sons from the farmers of Punjab. We will eradicate this menace from the state." The campaigning for the assembly elections in Punjab will end today and the state will go to polls on Saturday to elect new assembly. Last week, attacking Sukhbir Badal and Modi, Rahul had said, "On one hand there is the Akali Dal and on the other hand there is Narendra Modi. Mr Modi comes here (to Punjab) and says he is against corruption and is fighting against corruption." "Sab say zyada brashtachar Hindustan main ek pradesh main hota hain. Aur us brashtchar ka koyee chin hain, koyee nishan hain, toh uska naam Sukhbir Badal hain. (In India, maximum corruption takes place in one state. And if there is any symbol of this corruption, it is Sukhbir Singh Badal)," Rahul had said launching a sharp attack on Sukhbir, who is five-time CM Prakash Singh Badal's son. The Election Commission has issued a detailed guideline to the District Election Officers in Punjab to ensure prohibition 48 hours before the end of assembly polls in the state. State Chief Electoral Officer VK Singh said the prohibition will start at 5 pm today and will continue till 5 pm on Saturday. The Election Commission has also imposed complete prohibition on broadcasting or propagating election-related material on TV, radio or newspapers.
