Aam Aadmi Party which managed to register a sliding victory in the Punjab Assembly election earlier this year by bagging 92 seats is trying to pose itself as a big challenge for the saffron party which will be aiming for its seventh straight term in Gujarat.

In the 2017 Gujarat Assembly elections, out of the 182 seats, Bharatiya Janata Party attained a majority after winning 99 seats on their own. BJP received a tough fight from the Indian National Congress which bagged 78 seats. Two seats went to Bharatiya Tribal Party. Sharad Pawar's Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) settled with a mere one seat whereas two seats were won by independent candidates.
