Guarantee Schemes Row: Revanth, DKS Invite Maha Leaders To Telangana, Karnataka To Check Congress Success
Ahead of Maharashtra's state elections, Congress leaders Revanth and DKS highlighted the initiatives of the states led by party as a direct response to recent allegations made by PM Modi and BJP.
In a joint press conference held by the Congress leadership, prominent figures including Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, and Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar came together to counter the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) claims that Congress has "failed to deliver on its promises." Ahead of Maharashtra's state elections, these Congress leaders highlighted the initiatives and accomplishments of Congress-led states as a direct response to recent allegations made by PM Modi and BJP.
Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar emphasised that Congress has not only fulfilled its promises but has also implemented impactful welfare schemes that have improved the lives of Karnataka residents. "We have implemented five major guarantees in Karnataka that have directly benefited our people," Shivakumar said. He called on Maharashtra’s coalition leaders from BJP, NCP, and Shiv Sena to visit Karnataka and observe the success of Congress’ promises.
Shivakumar outlined the five key guarantees delivered in Karnataka. He said: "Congress committed to providing free electricity to residents. While others were giving 7 kg of free rice and Modi reduced it to 5 kg, this Karnataka government increased it to 10 kg."
Thirdly, he said that Rs 2,000 was allocated as Gruhalakshmi dole to women across the state, reflecting Congress’ commitment to supporting women, a pledge strongly endorsed by Priyanka Gandhi. Another scheme allows women to travel free on public buses, increasing accessibility and mobility for women.
"Yuva Nidhi Yojana, the initiative offers Rs 3,000 to unemployed graduates and Rs 1,500 to diploma holders, benefiting Karnataka's young people," he said.
Further, Shivakumar also criticised BJP’s programs, claiming they replicate Congress' schemes, adding that Congress is considering legal steps in response.
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy joined in, sharing Telangana’s progress under Congress’ governance. "The previous administration neglected Telangana’s farmers, but our government has addressed their needs through loan waivers and has provided 50,000 jobs in the last ten months," he asserted. Reddy also emphasized that 50 lakh families now receive free electricity, and over 1 lakh women have benefited from the Mahalakshmi Scheme, allowing free travel on RTC buses. He invited leaders including Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar to witness these initiatives firsthand.
