'Govt Worshipping Raavan In Name Of Ram': Congress' Adhir Chowdhury Hits Out At HM Amit Shah

Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury stated on Saturday that the BJP cannot accept their protest and is thus attempting to deflect attention by using its sole weapon, "Ram."

In response to Union Home Minister Amit Shah's remark on Congress using ‘Ram Janambhoomi’ foundation day for protest to promote their "appeasement politics", MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury on Saturday said that the BJP cannot tolerate their protest, and "that's why they're trying to divert the attention of common people by resorting to their only weapon 'Ram'," news agency ANI reported.

Earlier on Friday, Amit Shah attacked the Congress, saying the party picked August 5 for a protest and that its leaders were dressed in black because they "wanted to give a subtle message to further promote their appeasement politics."

“I can’t understand why they protested today. Every day when they protest, they used to wear their usual normal dress but today they wore black clothes. Congress chose this day for protest and wore black clothes because they want to give a subtle message to further promote their appeasement politics because on this day itself PM Modi laid the foundation of Ram Janambhoomi,” Amit Shah had informed ANI.

Responding to Shah's remark, Chowdhury said, "In the name of 'Ram', this govt has been worshipping 'Raavan'. People are afflicted under their rule. Congress exposed this govt as anti-people and pro-corporate."

As part of the party's protest against the government over the rise in prices and unemployment, Congress MPs led by Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi staged a demonstration in the Parliament House complex on Friday while dressed in all-black.

On their route to Rashtrapati Bhavan, the Congress leaders were stopped and held by the Delhi Police. Neither Sonia Gandhi nor the rest of the party marched. Additionally, Congress staged protests around the nation.
