'Govt Working On New Health Policy': PM Modi Lays Foundation Stone Of 4 Medical Colleges In Rajasthan

PM Modi laid foundation stones for medical colleges in Banswara, Sirohi, Hanumangarh and Dausa in a virtual event.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually laid the foundation stone of four medical colleges in Rajasthan. PM also inaugurated the Institute of Petrochemicals Technology in Jaipur's Sitapura

The medical colleges are based in Banswara, Sirohi, Hanumangarh, Dausa.

After the inaugural PM Modi also informed that the government is working on a new national health policy to transform the health sector of the country. Swachh Bharat Abhiyan to Ayushman Bharat and now Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission is a part of this policy.

PM Modi further said that the Covid pandemic taught a lot to the health sector across the world and as every country is engaged in dealing with this crisis in its own way, India has resolved to increase its strength, self-reliance during this time.

The Prime Minister also focused on the recently launched Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission and said that the platform will help in extending health services in every corner of the country. He said, "Access to good hospitals, laboratories, pharmacies, etc will be just a click away. This'll help in keeping patients' medical documents safely."

PM Modi further said, "The impact of skilled manpower associated with the health sector is seen in health services. Its importance was felt more during the pandemic. As a result of which, the Centre started & is continuing free vaccination program. Today, India has administered over 88 crores of vaccine."

According to a statement by the PMO, these medical colleges have been sanctioned under the centrally sponsored scheme for the “establishment of new medical colleges attached with district/referral hospitals.”

“Preference to set up medical colleges is given to underserved, backward, and aspirational districts. Under three phases of the scheme, 157 new medical colleges have been approved across the nation,” the release informed.

Union minister Mansukh Mandaviya and Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot were also present on the occasion. The PMO informed that together with the Rajasthan government, the government of India has established CIPET: Institute of Petrochemicals Technology, Jaipur.
