Gorakhnath Temple Attack: Akhilesh Yadav Asks BJP To Consider Mental Health Problem Of Accused Murtaza

Ahmad Murtaza Abbasi, an IIT graduate, attacked security personnel deployed at the Gorakhnath temple in Uttar Pradesh’s Gorakhpur earlier on Sunday night.

New Delhi: Launching a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for unnecessary dragging the controversy surrounding the Gorakhpur temple attack, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has said the accused as per information is suffering from mental problems.

“As per the information that is coming in now and what his father has said is that he has mental problems and bipolar issues. I think that aspect also has to be seen. The BJP is the party which unnecessary drags issues,” he said.

Ahmad Murtaza Abbasi, an IIT graduate, attacked security personnel deployed at the Gorakhnath temple in Uttar Pradesh’s Gorakhpur earlier on Sunday night.

Abbasi, who tried to charge into the temple after raising the slogan of ‘Allahu Akbar’, was arrested and sent to judicial remand for two weeks.

Referring to the arrest of three scribes in connection with the Class 12 exam paper leak case, the former Uttar Pradesh chief minister said even the fourth pillar of democracy is not safe under the BJP government’s rule.

“The journalists are also not safe under the BJP rule. The journalists were arrested in Ballia for exposing the leak of Sanskrit and English board exams papers. This is a very condemnable behaviour,” he said.

Dubbing the BJP to be a “serial killer of democracy”, he alleged that the saffron party has become an expert in looting votes.

The former Uttar Pradesh chief minister said the manner in which a woman candidate’s clothes was torn in Lakhimpur in the last panchayat elections and the paper of a Samajwadi Party candidate was torn in Etah during the nomination process for the recent legislative council elections shows the BJP has “no trust in the Constitution, nor in the law and democracy”.

The Samajwadi Party supremo also alleged that incidents of dacoity and loot have increased in Uttar Pradesh ever since the BJP came to power.

Yadav, who was in Kannauj in connection with the legislative council elections, expressed hope that officials would conduct the polls in a free and fair manner.

He said that his party was working dedicatedly to ensure the victory of its candidates and hoped that the Samajwadi Party would win maximum number of seats.
