Ghulam Nabi Azad To Address Maiden Rally In Jammu On Sept 4, Rahul Gandhi's Event On Same Day

The former leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha has also announced to float his party very soon in Jammu and Kashmir soon, where Assembly Elections are due to be announced shortly.

Former Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad will address his first rally in Jammu region on September 4, days after resigning from the grand old party after a five-decade old association with the Gandhi family. Interestingly, Azad's maiden address will be on the same day former Congress President Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to attended the "Mehngai par Halla Bol" event in the national capital.

There have been a spate of regisnation in Jammu & Kashmir Congress after Azad left the party. According to reports, Azad will address a rally in Jammu's Sainik farms on Sunday.

Over sixty leaders, including former deputy chief minister Tara Chand, have tendered their resignation and joined the Ghulam Nabi Azad camp on Tuesday, leaving the unit of the national party in the Union Territory in tatters.

Soon after parting ways with the party, Azad said that his resignation was just a "tip of the iceberg". Several political experts have said that Azad would step up his attack on Gandhis in the days to come.

The former leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha has also announced to float his party very soon in Jammu and Kashmir soon, where assembly elections are due to be announced.

Earlier in the day, Congress G-23 leaders Prithviraj Chavan, Anand Sharma and Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Tuesday met Ghulam Nabi Azad. The G-23 leaders are understood to be planning to contest the Presidential polls of the party which is slated on October 17.

Azad left the Congress party and had targeted Rahul Gandhi in his five-page resignation letter to Sonia Gandhi last Friday. Hitting out hard at Rahul Gandhi, Azad termed him as 'immature' and 'childish' and even accused the leadership of "foisting a non-serious individual" at the helm of the party.

The 73-year-old former Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister also attacked party chief Sonia Gandhi and said she was just a "nominal figurehead" and all the important decisions were being taken by Rahul or "rather worse his security guards and PAs".
