Rajasthan Governor Refuses To Call Assembly Session; Gehlot Camp Protests Inside Raj Bhavan

Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot reached the Governor's office with his MLAs seeking assembly session from Monday. According to reports, the governor has refused to commence a session citing the rising number of COVID cases

Rajasthan Political Crisis:  After the Rajasthan High Court maintained 'status quo' as per the Supreme Court order, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot held a press conference demanding governor Kalraj Mishra to hold assembly session starting from Monday. "We thought that he would give us a go-ahead by last night but that has not happened, there is no reason for the governor to reject this request. I think there is some pressure on him from the top," Gehlot said. ALSO READ|Relief For Sachin Pilot Camp As Rajasthan HC Puts Off Verdict; Orders 'Status Quo' Till Monday "I want to request the Rajasthan governor again to call for an assembly session by Monday so, we could discuss the difficulties faced in the COVID times and also prove majority in the house", Said CM Gehlot Gehlot attacked governor Kalraj Mishra and said that he should go by the rules and immediately call for a session if the CM is requesting for it. Gehlot paraded to the Raj Bhavan with all his MLAs and appealed together to start the assembly session. According to reports, Governor Kalraj Mishra refused CM Gehlot's request to commence an assembly session concerning the increasing Coronavirus cases in the state. MLAs supporting Gehlot started raising slogans inside the governor's office demanding justice and  'Ashok Gehlot Zindabad'

'We Have Full Majority, No Problem in Proving It': Gehlot 

 Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said the opposition had also been asking for an assembly session. "We have a full majority, we have no problem in proving it. But it seems that the governor is more worried."

'Entire Conspiracy by BJP Amid Covid-19': Gehlot 

CM Gehlot also alleged that BJP is conspiring to topple the government in Rajasthan as it did in Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh. Everything will be clear in the assembly session, everything will be transparent in front of the media and the people of Rajasthan once we hold the assembly session. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said - "We feel that the MLAs in Haryana (from Pilot's camp) want to return to the fold, some have contacted us to rescue them. This entire conspiracy has been concocted by the BJP. We are supposed to be fighting Covid-19 but BJP is busy in toppling our government." CM Gehlot also warned the governor and said," If the call for assembly session is not issued the government is not responsible for any kind of mass protests outside the Raj Bhavan." Sachin Pilot was on July 14 sacked as deputy chief minister and the state Congress president after he did not show up at previously held Congress Legislature Party meetings. Two other ministers in the Pilot camp, Vishvendra Singh and Ramesh Meena, were also dropped from the Cabinet for their alleged involvement in a conspiracy to topple the Ashok Gehlot government.
