Former Union Minister Raghuvansh Prasad Singh Passes Away, Lalu Yadav "Speechless & Grieved"
Singh was admitted at AIIMS after developing post-Covid symptoms. Lalu Yadav expressed grief on the former RJD leader's demise.
Former Union minister Raghuvansh Prasad Singh, whose recent resignation from the RJD founded and headed by Lalu Prasad left political waters in Bihar a stir, passed away on Sunday, a day after he fell critically ill and was put on a ventilator.
Singh, who was admitted at AIIMS, Delhi, for about a week after developing post-Covid-19 complications, resigned from the primary membership of the party on Thursday and followed it up with an open letter, a day later, addressed to Prasad's arch-rival and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, triggering speculations about his future moves.
It was reported on Saturday that Raghuvansh Prasad Singh had fallen critically ill and put on a ventilator. Singh's recent resignation from the RJD founded and headed by Lalu Prasad left political waters in Bihar astir.
On Saturday a close aide of his told news agency PTI that "Singh sahib's condition deteriorated considerably last night. At 11.56 PM, he was put on a ventilator. We are praying for his well-being".
Singh, a long-time associate of former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, represented the state's Vaishali constituency and was the Union Minister for Rural Development in the Congress-led UPA-I government.
A politician of nearly four decades, Raghuvansh Prasad Singh was widely regarded as an expert in the rural and agricultural landscape of the country and is credited with the conceptualisation and implementation of the NREGA (National Rural Guarantee Employment) Act.

Lalu Yadav expressed his grief on Twitter and said, " I told you that you are not going anywhere, but you have gone so far. I am speechless and grived. You will be remembered."
Few days ago Lalu Prasad Yadav wrote a letter to Raghuvansh Prasad Singh after he resigned from the party. In his letter, Lalu Yadav said that we will talk when you are well." You are not going anywhere." Lalu Yadav wrote, "A letter allegedly written by you is being run in the media. I can't believe it Right now, with me, my family, and me, the RJD family wants you to get well soon and see you among us. In four decades, we have been together in every political, social, and even family matters. You will be healthy soon, then sit and talk. You are not going anywhere, Understand. "
