New Delhi: Former SBI chairman Pratip Chaudhary, who has been in jail related to the loan scam, has been hospitalised at Jawahar Hospital after he complained of restlessness, according to news agency ANI. Chaudhary was put behind the bars on Monday after the CJM Court of Jaisalmer ordered him to be sent to judicial custody for 14 days in the loan scam case.

"He was brought to Jawahar Hospital on Wednesday evening after he complained of restlessness and hypertension in jail,” officials told the agency. Chaudhary is suffering from hypertension and undergoing treatment, informed Jawahar Hospital’s Principal Medical Officer JR Panwar.

What’s the reason behind Pratip Chaudhary arrest?

It is alleged that the former SBI chairman has misused his position to sell Jaisalmer’s Hotel Fort Rajwada against the rules. He has been arrested due to his alleged role in crippled Rs 200 crore Garh Rajwada hotel project in the city which was sold for Rs 25 crore to Alchemist ARC in March 2014.

The bank has financed the project in 2007. Chaudhuri has been a director on the board of the ARC since his retirement in September 2013.

Meanwhile, State Bank of India (SBI) Chairman Dinesh Khara on Wednesday described the arrest of former chairman of SBI, Pratip Chaudhuri, as 'extremely unfortunate' and hoped that he will be released unconditionally soon.
