Former Punjab CM Capt Amarinder Singh To Join BJP Today, Meets Party President JP Nadda

Additionally, the newly founded Punjab Lok Congress (PLC), led by 80-year-old Singh, would join the BJP.

Captain Amarinder Singh, a former chief minister of Punjab, met with BJP National president JP Nadda on Monday in Delhi. He will formally join the BJP in Delhi today in front of senior party officials, sources informed ABP News.

Additionally, the newly founded Punjab Lok Congress (PLC), led by 80-year-old Singh, would join the BJP.

Singh left the Congress last year after his abrupt resignation as chief minister and established the PLC.

The PLC ran for office in coalition with the BJP and the Shiromani Akali Dal, which is led by Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa (Sanyuk).

However, none of its candidates were successful in winning, and Singh himself was defeated on his own turf in Patiala Urban.

Following spinal surgery, the former chief minister of Punjab recently returned from London where he visited Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Singh said that his meeting with Shah on September 12 resulted in a very fruitful conversation about a range of topics, including the increased incidence of narco-terrorism in Punjab and the state's future development strategy.

The twice-resigned chief minister is a descendant of the old Patiala royal house.
