Ex-Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai Says Siddaramaiah's First Cabinet Meeting 'Disappointed People'

During his discussion of the new government's first Cabinet meeting, Basavaraj Bommai stated that there is a significant difference between the ruling party's announcements and poll promises.

Former Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai slammed the state's newly formed Congress government on Saturday (May 20). Basavaraj Bommai stated that there is a significant difference between the ruling party's announcements and poll promises during his discussion of the new government's first Cabinet meeting.

Former Karnataka CM said: "There is a significant difference between the promises made by the Congress government and the announcements made by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah following the formation of the first Cabinet. Many announcements and immediate implementation were expected. Some of the women began riding the buses for free. Today's announcements have disappointed the people," Bommai said after speaking at a press conference, ANI posted a video of the same.

Earlier, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced that the new Cabinet has issued orders for the implementation of five promises made by the Congress during its election campaign.

"Five guarantees were promised in the manifesto, and the order to implement those five guarantees was issued following the first cabinet meeting. Everything will be in effect after the next cabinet meeting, which will be called within a week," Siddaramaiah said following the first Cabinet meeting in Vidhan Soudha.

The five 'main' guarantees are 200 units of free power to all households (Gruha Jyoti); ₹2,000 monthly assistance to the woman head of every family (Gruha Lakshmi); 10 kg of rice free to every member of a BPL household (Anna Bhagya); ₹3,000 every month for unemployed graduate youth and ₹1,500 for unemployed diploma holders (both in the age group of 18-25) for two years (Yuva Nidhi) and free travel for women in public transport buses (Uchita Prayana).

The Karnataka Legislative Assembly will meet next week on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
