Former Bengaluru Police Commissioner Bhaskar Rao Resigns, Expected To Join AAP: Report
According to the source, Rao was upset with the way the current state administration handled him and indicated an interest in joining the Aam Aadmi Party.
New Delhi: Former Bangalore Police Commissioner Bhaskar Rao is planning to enter politics next and run for the Bangalore South constituency in the next 2023 Assembly elections.
According to the source, Rao was upset with the way the current state administration handled him and indicated an interest in joining the Aam Aadmi Party, Indian Express reported.
On Friday, the Karnataka government accepted the resignation of Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Bhaskar Rao.
In September of last year, Bhaskar Rao gave IAS officer P Ravi Kumar, who is also the Karnataka Chief Secretary, a voluntary retirement notice based on personal reasons.
"Last trip home after curtains down of 32 years in IPS. I have extreme gratitude to my family, the people of Karnataka and all my colleagues, friends, elders & young people in my life and finally the Governments of Karnataka across parties, heading into choppy seas," Rao tweeted.

According to the India Today report, Bhaskar Rao will be the AAP's first candidate before the Karnataka assembly elections in 2023. He is most likely to run from Bangalore's Basavanagudi seat.
Bhaskar Rao will also be the party's Brahmin face. Because he is a local citizen from Bangalore, his participation in the AAP would help the party gain ground.
He has also served as Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) and as the city's police commissioner.
Following its decisive victory in the Punjab 2022 elections, the AAP now has its sights set on the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) elections this year and the Karnataka Assembly elections in 2023.
