Two-year-old Fatehveer Singh who was pulled out of borewell was brought dead to the hospital: Doctors
Fatehveer, who is the only child of his parents, fell into the unused borewell in a field on Thursday evening (June 6) when he was playing near his house in Bhagwanpura village.
New Delhi: Hours after the team of NDRF pulled out two-year-old boy Fatehveer Singh from 150-foot-deep abandoned borewell today, the toddler died on Tuesday. The doctors at PGIMER, where the child was taken, said that he was brought dead to the hospital. Reportedly, the child's grandfather, Rohi Singh said that why was he taken to the hospital when he is no more. Singh claimed that the body of the child had grievous wounds. "He was pulled out (of the borewell) by using strings," he was quoted as saying.
The child was pulled out on Tuesday morning after over 100 hours since he fell into it. The toddler was retrieved at 5.10 am today. Wrapped in a piece of a cloth, Fatehveer was rushed to the ambulance by NDRF jawan from where he was taken to the hospital.
Fatehveer, who is the only child of his parents, fell into the unused borewell in a field on Thursday evening (June 6) when he was playing near his house in Bhagwanpura village. The boy had accidentally stepped on the borewell which was covered with a cloth, officials said, adding his mother had tried to rescue him, but failed.
Despite rescuers being close to reaching the child till Monday, he could not be retrieved as the rescue operation was confronted with some technical problems. When every technique to rescue to child failed, Fateh was finally taken out of the borewell with the help of an iron latch. Watch- A massive rescue operation was launched to bring the child safely out of the borewell. A team of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), the police, civil authorities, villagers and volunteers were involved in rescue operations day and night. Since the child fell in the borewell, a team of doctors and ambulances were stationed at the spot to provide emergency aid. A movement in the child's body was noticed at 5 a.m. on Saturday, almost 40 hours after the incident, although, after that there was no movement in his body. Adequate supply of oxygen inside the well was provided and a camera used to monitor the child's condition. Angry villagers alleged that the district administration was lacking experts and required technology in dealing with such an emergency situation. Sensing anger of villagers, the grandfather of Fatehveer Singh urged people to be patient and exercise restraint. However, State minister Gurpreet Kangar rejected the accusations of any negligence on the part of the state government in retrieving the child, saying it was constantly monitoring the situation. Several Opposition leaders, including Akali leader Parminder Singh Dhindsa, Lok Insaaf Party leader Simarjeet Bains and AAP leader Harpal Cheema visited the site and blamed the state government over delay in retrieving the child.
