Farmers Protest: Twitter Blocks 250 Accounts Including Kisan Ekta Morcha On IT Ministry's Order
Farmers Protest: Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology under Section 69A of the Information Technology Act asked Twitter to block the accounts using #ModiPlanningFarmerGenocide hashtag and making fake, intimidatory and provocative tweets.
Twitter has blocked at least 250 accounts, including of the Kisan Ekta Morcha, after the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology ordered the social media platform to block those spreading misinformation and using the offensive hashtag.
Earlier on Saturday, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology under Section 69A of the Information Technology Act asked Twitter to block the accounts using #ModiPlanningFarmerGenocide hashtag and making fake, intimidatory and provocative tweets. Complying with the order, Twitter blocked the listed accounts and tweets.

This was done on the directions of the Home Ministry and Law enforcement officials to ensure the law and order situation is in order and no untoward incident takes place.
Earlier on January 26, thousands of protesting farmers had indulged in violence and clashed with the Delhi Police personnel during the Tractor Rally. Hundreds of farmers deviated from the route decided by the Delhi Police for the rally and entered the majestic Red Fort.

The farmers have so far held 11 rounds of talks with the ruling dispensation and demanding Prime Minister Modi-led regime to repeal the laws passed by the Parliament in September last year. One of the major demands of the farmers is that the Minimum Support Price (MSP) be made a legal provision to assure a better price to them.
