Eknath Shinde Govt Considering To Bring Law Against 'Love Jihad' In Maharashtra, Says Fadnavis

Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fandavis has said that his government will be undertaking the study of the law against Love Jihad and what kind of laws are there in different states.

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fandavis on Friday said that the state is considering to have a new law against love jihad," in wake of the grisly murder of Shraddha Walkar by her boyfriend Aftab Poonawala in Delhi that has shocked the nation.

Fandavis also said that his government will be undertaking the study of the law against Love Jihad and what kind of laws are there in different states. Further decision will be taken on the basis of the study.

His statement came after a meeting with the father of Shraddha Walkar.

Earlier, Maharashtra Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Ram Kadam had demanded a 'Love Jihad' investigation into the murder of Shraddha Walker.

Aftab Amin Poonawala, Shraddha's live-in boyfriend, is accused of killing the Delhi resident and dismembering her body into 35 pieces before disposing them over the course of many days all around Delhi.

Given that Shraddha and Aftab were of different religions, Kadam has brought up the issue of "Love Jihad," a phrase employed by various Hindu organisations to describe the perception that Muslim males date non-Muslim women, frequently Hindu women, with the sole purpose of converting them to Islam.

BJP MLA wrote a letter to Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora. In this letter he wrote, if the accused was earning only a meager amount then how was he collecting the money? There should be a complete inquiry into this. The information that has come to the fore so far points towards 'Love Jihad'. Delhi Police should form a special team to investigate from this perspective.

Shraddha Murder Case

Aftab and Shraddha apparently started dating after meeting in Mumbai.

Shraddha and Aftab relocated to Delhi as Shraddha's family objected to their relationship.

On May 15, Shraddha and Aftab relocated to their apartment in Chhatarpur Pahadi, Delhi. Aftab allegedly murdered Shraddha within days of their argument over her impending nuptials.

Aftab turned to Dexter on Netflix and blood-removing procedures accessible on the internet to dispose of the body and get away with murdering her.

Aaftab kept the body pieces in a 300-litre fridge and used incense sticks to mask any odours. He also went online to study how to clear blood stains and what chemicals to use while cleaning and disposing of the corpse and garments.

According to investigators, Aftab methodically arranged which components to dispose of first based on which part began degrading first.
