A week after its release, Vicky Kaushal’s ‘Chhaava’ has collected Rs 219.75 crore at the domestic box office. On its seventh day, a working Thursday, it earned Rs 22 crore, according to industry tracker Sacnilk. The film saw its highest earnings on Sunday, at Rs 48.5 crore, and has consistently maintained over Rs 20 crore daily. Its global total now stands at Rs 270 crore.
Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava box office collection
‘Chhaava’ has also become the biggest hit of Vicky Kaushal’s career as a lead actor, surpassing last year’s blockbusters. In its first week, it outperformed ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’ (Rs 158.25 crore) and ‘Singham Again’ (Rs 173 crore), both of which benefited from Diwali holiday releases. ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’ ended its India run at Rs 260.04 crore, while ‘Singham Again’ made Rs 247.85 crore. The biggest Hindi hit of 2024, ‘Stree 2’, had a first-week collection of Rs 275.35 crore, putting ‘Chhaava’ close to breaking more records.

On Thursday, Chhaava recorded a 27.96% overall occupancy in cinemas. In Maharashtra, where the film is based on Maratha warrior Sambhaji Maharaj, it performed exceptionally well. Mumbai, with over 1,400 shows, saw 43.5% occupancy, while Pune, with 730+ shows, had a strong 59% occupancy. As expected, the film’s collections in this region were higher than in other parts of the country. Meanwhile, in the Delhi-NCR region, where the film had 1,300+ shows, occupancy was around 16% on Thursday.
Chhaava becomes tax-free
On Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's birth anniversary on February 19, Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav and Goa CM Dr. Pramod Sawant made an announcement. They declared that Vicky Kaushal’s historical drama ‘Chhaava’, based on Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, will be tax-free in their respective states.
A historical action drama, 'Chhaava' delves into the life of Maratha king Sambhaji, played by Vicky Kaushal. Directed by Laxman Utekar, the film also features Akshaye Khanna and Rashmika Mandanna in pivotal roles.
