ED Asks Rahul Gandhi To Rejoin Probe On Tuesday After Being Questioned For Over 40 Hours In 4 Days: Report

National Herald Case: On Monday, Rahul had appeared before the enforcement agency for interrogation for the fourth day in connection with the case.

New Delhi: Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate to rejoin the investigation in alleged money laundering in connection with the National Herald case, reported new agency ANI. The senior party leader has been interrogated for over 40 hours in four days.

On Monday, Rahul had appeared before the enforcement agency for interrogation for the fourth day in connection with the case. A day after his 52nd birthday, Gandhi arrived at the ED headquarters on the APJ Abdul Kalam Road in central Delhi at 11.05 am with his "Z+" category CRPF security escort.

Heavy deployment of police and paramilitary personnel was present around the federal agency's office even as Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) has been imposed in the adjoining area like last week.

Meanwhile, senior Congress leaders and workers held a protest at Jantar Mantar here against the ED action and the Centre's Agnipath defence recruitment scheme.

The fourth day of questioning was deferred from June 17 to June 20 due to his mother and party’s interim president Sonia Gandhi’s health.

Sonia Gandhi was admitted to Sir Gangaram Hospital on Sunday following Covid-related complications. The 75-year-old had tested positive on June 2, has also been summoned for questioning by the ED in connection with the case on June 23.
