DSGMC chief assault: US envoy assures probe by law enforcement authorities
New Delhi [India], Aug 27 (ANI): US Ambassador to India Ken Juster on Monday assured Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal that the incidents of violence in the United States will be fully investigated by local law enforcement authorities.
Juster took to his official Twitter handle and informed that he had a productive meeting with Harsimrat, which came after the Union Minister had asked the US Ambassador to take strict action against those involved in the attack of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) president Manjit Singh GK in California on Saturday.
"Productive meeting with Minister @HarsimratBadal_ and the delegation of Sikh leaders. We assured Minister Badal that incidents of violence in the United States are taken seriously and fully investigated by local law enforcement authorities," Juster wrote on Twitter.
Following a meeting with Juster earlier in the day in the national capital, Harsimrat had told ANI, "We met the US Ambassador today. He has assured that strict action will be taken and all help will be extended. He said that the law will take its course and nobody will get scot-free."
On Sunday, Harsimrat alleged that the men who attacked Manjit Singh GK in California have links with Pakistan's intelligence agency, ISI. She had also alleged that the attackers enjoy the support of senior Congress leader Jagdish Tytler, who is an accused in the 1984 anti-Sikh riot case.
Harsimrat had told ANI, "Heads of 'Sikhs for Justice' who are direct beneficiaries of ISI and work on their orders and are supported by those who are in direct touch with the likes of Jagdish Tytler, and Jasbeer Singh Lobana and his son Gagandeep Singh Lobana, were seen attacking him (Manjit Singh GK). Jasbeer Singh Lobana is the same person who has spent three months in jail for trying to intimidate an eyewitness against Jagdish Tytler in the 1984 massacre."
"These people are attacking that person (Manjit Singh GK) of Sikh community, who has been fighting for years to get justice, to put Jagdish Tytler behind bars and to ensure that people get to know the reality of the Gandhi family. This attack clarifies that the nexus between the Congress party, the Sikhs for Justice and the ISI," she had added.
Manjit Singh GK was attacked by a group of unknown men at the Yuba City Gurdwara in California on Saturday. The attackers allegedly pushed Singh to the ground, causing his turban to fall off and blackened his face. Three people have been arrested in connection with the matter.
Recalling the incident, Manjit Singh had informed that a group of over 20 people had attacked him.
This is the second such attack on Manjit Singh this week. On Monday, the DSGMC chief and his family were allegedly attacked by Khalistan sympathisers at a TV studio in New York, following which he appealed to External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj for help and demanded action. (ANI)
