New Delhi: Kafeel Khan - the infamous doctor , who was held responsible for deaths of multiple infants in a government hospital in Gorakhpur, a was cleared of charges. A report submitted to Uttar Pradesh's medical education department has absolved Khan of the charges. The absolvement was readily lapped up by the Congress which came down hard on the Yogi government. The Congress, from its official handle tweeted: "Now that Dr Kafeel Khan has been absolved of any wrong doing in the Gorakhpur tragedy, will the UP government pin the blame on someone else or finally accept its neglect and role in the death of 63 children due to lack of oxygen?" As the tragic case came to light, Khan became the prime accused of corruption and medical negligence. He was suspended and arrested after 63 children died in the BRD Medical College in Gorakhpur, Yogi Adityanath's home turf. The doctor was also accused of keeping the then newly formed Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in the state of dark about lack of oxygen supply in the government hospital. According to the probe report, Khan was not found guilty of medical negligence. He was not in charge of encephalitis ward No. 100. The doctor wasn't found being involved in tendering process for oxygen supply/ corruption. He was involved in practice till August 2016 and not since then. "In a video message, Khan expressed relief and happiness at being given clean chit. "Those parents who lost their infants are still waiting for the justice.I demand that government should apologize and give compensation to the victim families....After two years, the Murderer Dr. Kafeel tag will now to a certain extent be erased. But justice would be served when the real culprits of BRD Oxygen tragedy will be put behind the bars," he said.
