Digvijaya Singh In Congress President Poll Race, To File Nomination: Sources

As of now, Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor's participation in the upcoming party president election is officially confirmed.

Veteran Congress leader Digvijaya Singh will contest the upcoming party president election. Digvijaya will file his nomination soon, sources informed ABP Live. He will be in Delhi tonight. Just days after confirming ABP Live, that no one from the Gandhi family will be contesting the Congress president election, the former Madhya Pradesh chief minister's name has popped up as one of the contenders.

The Rajya Sabha MP had met Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi, on the day notification for the party president poll was issued, fuelling speculation of him being in the race. He had then denied any such ambitions for contesting for the party's top post.

Digvijaya's name, along with KC Venugopal and Mallikarjun Kharge, cropped up as a plausible contender after a storm brewed in Rajasthan Congress on Sunday.

The 75-year-old was also part of the Rahul Gandhi-led 'Bharat Jodo Yatra'.

As of now, Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor's participation in the upcoming party president election is officially confirmed, while Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot is the other name floating around.
