Demonetisation not in public interest, what if people start surgical strikes against govt?: Uddhav Thackeray
MUMBAI: After the opposition parties–Congress, AAP, SP and BSP–questioned the timing of the demonetisation move, claiming it was linked to the upcoming elections, BJP's ally Shiva Sena today hit out at PM Narendra Modi over the currency ban move.
Sena said the Centre's move of demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes is not in public interest.
"This initiative taken by Government is not in public interest, because only normal people are suffering from this hasty decision," Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray said.
"The decision should have been made after taking people in confidence," he added.
Thackeray said the Government should have done 'surgical strikes' on the black money deposited in all the Swiss accounts.
"Its leaders are terming it as a surgical strike, but what if angry and frustrated people start surgical strikes against the Government? BJP should have acted against people who have black money in their Swiss accounts," he said.
