Weather Update: IMD Forecasts Moderate Rain In Delhi For Next Two Days. Check Details

Weather Update: The minimum temperature on Thursday morning was recorded at 24.5 degrees Celsius, three notches below normal, following rain in many parts of the national capital.

New Delhi: According to the Meteorological Department, the National Capital Delhi will experience a generally cloudy sky with moderate rain on Friday and Saturday. At the same time, it is estimated that there will be some relief from the heat due to rain, but the temperature will remain around 30 degree Celsius. 

"There will be a generally cloudy sky with moderate rains on Friday and Saturday. The maximum and minimum temperatures on Friday are likely to hover around 33 and 25 degrees Celsius, respectively," an IMD official said.

The minimum temperature on Thursday morning was recorded at 24.5 degrees Celsius, three notches below normal, following rain in many parts of the national capital. 

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the city recorded 56.6 mm of rain from 8.30 am on Wednesday to 8.30 am on Thursday.

Due to the rains, heavy traffic jams were reported at several major stretches including Delhi-Meerut Expressway, Bhairon Marg-Ring Road Junction, Vikas Marg, DND and Sarai Kale Khan.

According to the Meteorological Department, the humidity level in the air stood at 95 per cent at 8.30 am.

IMD has forecast an increase in Monsoon activities over Northwest India in the next two-three days.

According to the data of the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the air quality in Delhi remained in the 'satisfactory' category on Thursday morning. The air quality index (AQI) of Delhi has recorded 76 category at around 6.05 pm.

An AQI between zero and 50 is considered "good", 51 and 100 "satisfactory", 101 and 200 "moderate", 201 and 300 "poor", 301 and 400 "very poor", and 401 and 500 "severe".
