IMD Predicts Light Rainfall In Delhi, Parts Of North India From Today; Temperatures To Rise

Delhi Weather Update: In Delhi and other northern states, cold weather conditions will prevail during the next 24 hours and abate thereafter, the IMD predicted.

Minimum temperatures are also likely to rise by 2-4 degrees Celsius over northwest India (ABP file)

New Delhi: The IMD has predicted light rainfall and shallow fog in Delhi and its adjoining areas on Friday.

"There will be partly cloudy sky with possibility of light rain or drizzle towards evening on Friday. There will be shallow fog in the morning," the IMD bulletin said.

Minimum temperatures are also likely to rise by 2-4 degrees Celsius over northwest India during the next three to four days.

Cold weather conditions is likely to prevail over some parts of north Madhya Pradesh during the next two days. 

In Delhi and other northern states, cold weather conditions will prevail during the next 24 hours and abate thereafter, the IMD predicted.

From January 21, the minimum temperature will be 10 degrees Celsius while the maximum will be 19 degrees Celsius.

On Thursday, Delhi was engulfed in a blanket of fog, with the minimum temperature recorded at 9.8 degrees Celsius.

Foggy conditions led to delay in arrival of around a dozen Delhi-bound trains, PTI quoted railway officials as saying.

Meanwhile, Delhi's Air Quality Index (AQI) continued to remain in the 'very poor' category at 340, as per SAFAR.

The level of both PM 2.5 and PM 10 pollutants stood in the 'very poor' and 'poor' categories, respectively.

The Ministry of Earth Sciences said in its bulletin that the AQI would improve and reach the 'poor' to 'moderate' category due to rain, strong winds and better ventilation conditions on Saturday and Sunday.

Chances Of Rain In Punjab And Haryana

Punjab and Haryana are expected receive rainfall once again after a few days of relief. In Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, the day temperature will remain around 12-13 degrees Celsius. Southern India will not see any impact of rain or western disturbances.
