17 Delhi-Bound Flights Diverted As Rain, Thunderstorm Lash National Capital

Several airlines have posted changes to flight schedules on their Twitter feeds and have issued travel advisories to passengers. Passengers have been advised to monitor official sources for updates.

For the second day in a row, Delhi experienced light rain on Thursday, with the Met Department forecasting rain for the next two days. On Wednesday, the Delhi-NCR region was hit by similar spells of rain and thunderstorm.

17 flights have been diverted from the Delhi airport due to bad weather - eight to Lucknow, eight to Jaipur, and one to Dehradun, ANI reported.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the minimum temperature in the national capital was 18.8 degrees Celsius on Thursday, while the maximum temperature was around 32 degrees Celsius.

"Rain and thundershowers are expected in Delhi/NCR late this evening and tonight." The wet spell will resume tomorrow after a brief break in the forenoon/afternoon. "The remnant showers, albeit light, may even continue on Saturday morning and then cease," said SkyMet.

According to the Met Department, Delhi received 34mm of rain in March, exceeding the city's monthly average of 19.1mm. "It is likely to increase this margin further," the weather service predicted.

Meanwhile, the IMD has forecast rain, thunderstorms, and hailstorms for the entire northwest India region, including the western Himalayas, over the next two days. "Temperatures across India are normal, and there is no chance of a heatwave right now," IMD scientist Dr Naresh was quoted as saying by the news agency ANI.

Several Airlines Took To Twitter To Announce Changes:
