Delhi Metro To Follow Pre Covid Timings And Start Services On All Lines From 6 AM From Sept 13

The Delhi Metro has announced that it will begin services at 6 AM on Sunday, Septemeber 13 which is the day when the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) exams will be conducted across the country.

New Delhi:  The Delhi Metro which has resumed operations since September 7th, will begin its operations on all lines at 6 am on Sunday, 13th September. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has also said that from September 20th regular timings of 8 am start of operations will be applicable on phase three sections like the magenta line on Sundays (only). The DMRC also shared the information via a tweet.
It is to be noted that on Sunday, the National Testing Agency (NTA) will be conducting the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) exams across the country. The change can be a relief to many students who may use public transport to reach different exam centres in the Delhi NCR region. As per the business daily Mint, this service will be specially provided for medical entrance examinees and their guardians. However, examinees will have to show NEET admit cards at the gates of Metro stations. Around 15.97 lakh candidates have registered for and NEET (UG) 2020. After being suspended for over 5 months, metro services around the country have resumed in a graded manner. DMRC said that it would be done in three stages from September 7-12, keeping in place all the health and hygiene measures, guidelines issued by the government. Managing Director of DMRC Mangu Singh said that metros have been resumed for the benefit of the people and to rekindle economic activities that were hit during the lockdown. He said that metro trains prior to the COVID-19 pandemic could accommodate about 60 lakh but owing to the guidelines, metro will not be able to accommodate more than 12-15 lakh people daily.
