Remember to follow the guidelines when travelling. #MetroBackOnTrack," the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) tweeted. On Monday, the Delhi Metro had resumed services with curtailed operation of the Yellow Line and Rapid Metro. The Metro services were shut on March 22 to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus. The Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) had recently issued guidelines allowing the Delhi Metro to resume operations in a graded manner, following which the DMRC had said it would be done in three stages from September 7-12. Under stage one, Yellow Line or Line 2 and Rapid Metro were made operational with restricted service hours. Stage two kicked in from Friday with extended service hours, and stage three came into effect from Saturday onward. But I want to bring it into your notice that the capacity has been reduced due to the social distancing protocol," he said. "Earlier, we used to carry 250-300 passengers at once but now the capacity has been reduced to 50 only. Hence, I request you to refrain from travelling during peak hours. If you do this then Delhi Metro will be able to serve you better," he added. He also warned against thinking that everything has returned to normal, while urging to continue "work from home". As per reports, the Delhi Metro incurred a revenue loss of over Rs 1,500 crore, about Rs 10 crore per day on an average during the 170 days of shutdown.
