Delhi Lifts All Covid Restrictions From Today, Allows Standing Passengers On Metro. Details Here

The DDMA authorities reduced the fine for not wearing masks from Rs 2,000 to Rs 500 and resume physical classes in Delhi schools from April 1.

New Delhi: With dwindling cases of Covid-19 in the national capital, the Delhi government has decided to remove all restrictions from Monday and allow Metro services to be resumed with revised norms.

The Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) meeting on Friday chaired by Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal was attended by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in which the decision was taken to withdraw all restrictions from Monday.

What are the restrictions lifted in Delhi?

The DDMA authorities reduced the fine for not wearing masks from Rs 2,000 to Rs 500 and resume physical classes in Delhi schools from April 1.

Going by the latest guidelines issued by the DDMA on Covid management, all prohibitions or restrictions imposed earlier has been lifted.  It means Delhi Metro services will now be available with revised norms from Monday, the DMRC said, according to PTI report.

Passengers will be allowed to travel in the metro without any restrictions i.e, they can travel in both standing and sitting manner, it said.

Also note that all gates of metro stations will remain open to facilitate passenger entry throughout the day. Regulation of passenger entry through limited number of gates stands dispensed with from Monday, the DMRC added.

However, passengers have been advised to keep following Covid-appropriate behaviours (i.e. wearing of face mask or cover, maintaining of social distancing etc), for their own and everyone else’s safety and well being, noted the DMRC.

Meanwhile, Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal's government on Saturday said wearing masks will no longer be mandatory for travellers travelling in a private car in the national capital even if there is more than one person in the car. Previously, the persons driving a car was allowed to not wear masks only if they were alone/

So far, Delhi has recorded nearly 18.6 lakh Covid cases including 2,086 active cases, 26,122 deaths and 18,31,426 recoveries. On Sunday, Delhi witnessed a slight increase in its daily tally after 484 new cases were added.
