Delhi: In A First, A Female Sub-Inspector Becomes Part Of Encounter; Bulletproof Jacket Saves Her Life

It was the first time that a female cop was part of such an encounter in Delhi to catch dreaded ciminals.

New Delhi: An encounter between the Delhi Police and the miscreants took place in the Pragati Maidan area in the wee hours of Thursday morning. Police have arrested two infamous miscreants after both were shot in the encounter. The police got information from their source that miscreant Rohit Choudhary will reach the Bhairon Temple Road with his accomplice, so the officers laid a trap to catch him.

When the police tried to stop Rohit Choudhary's car, he and his friend Titu opened fire after which the officers shot both the miscreants on their leg. Rohit and his accomplice Titu were admitted to the hospital for treatment. Both of them are accused of murder and they are wanted criminals under MACOCA.

While the criminals were shot on their legs during the encounter, crime branch ACP Pankaj and Sub Inspector Priyanka Sharma were saved by the bullets fired by the criminals as both were wearing bulletproof jackets.SP Pankaj said that it was the first time a  lady-cop was part of an encounter with a dreaded criminal in the capital last night. 

Police also informed that a reward of Rs 4 lakh has been named on Rohit and Rs 2 lakh has been named on Titu as they were on the watch list of the crime branch related to the murders in Saket and Hapur in the national capital.

Significantly, Delhi Police have recovered the pistol used by both the criminals and the illegal weapons they carried to the encounter spot. Both the miscreants are admitted at RML Hospital and the police are carrying out further investigations to catch their accomplices and to find out their motive
