Delhi HC Dismisses Chirag Paswan’s Petition Challenging Pashupati Paras As LJP Floor Leader
The High Court said the petition is without merit. This comes as a factional fight has broken out between Chirag and Paras, with both claiming rights to lead the LJP.
New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Friday dismissed Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) MP Chirag Paswan’s petition challenging Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla’s order to designate his uncle Pashupati Kumar Paras as party’s floor leader.
The High Court said the petition is without merit. This comes as a factional fight has broken out between Chirag and Paras, with both claiming rights to lead the LJP.

Paras, who is presently locked in a bitter feud with his nephew, was earlier on Wednesday sworn-in as minister in Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Cabinet.
Paras, who took over as the Union Food Processing Minister Pashupati Kumar Paras, has said there is no dispute over his representing the LJP in the Cabinet as he is the “real successor” of the late politician Ram Vilas Paswan and not his son Chirag.
“I am the real political successor of Paswanji (Ram Vilas Paswan). Chirag Paswan is definitely his son but he is not and cannot be his political successor. He (Chirag) definitely has a right on his father's assets,” PTI quoted Paras as saying.
Chirag had earlier on Tuesday expressed his ire over reports of his uncle's induction into the Union Cabinet and said Paras could not be appointed as a minister from LJP quota as he is no longer a party member.
