'No Objections If Sourav Ganguly Joins TMC': BJP's Dilip Ghosh After Mamata Meets BCCI President

In the recently held Bengal elections, BJP was trying to bring onboard Sourav Ganguly to contest against TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee.

Kolkata: According to  BJP state president Dilip Ghosh, the saffron party has no objections if veteran cricket captain and BCCI president Sourav Ganguly is made MP from TMC.

Dilip Ghosh has now made the speculation which was just a whisper, now public through his statement when he said, "Normally politicians do not do anything without political benefits. Sourav is an icon of West Bengal. It is good, that Mamata Banerjee has met him on his birthday. She should take care of famous people outside of politics and they should be honoured too."

"People do not see doing everything for politics in a good manner," he added.

In the recently held Bengal elections, BJP was trying to bring onboard Sourav Ganguly. At that time, Ganguly had clearly refused to enter the field of politics.

BJP wanted Sourav Ganguly to contest against Mamata Banerjee. In such a situation, now after the meeting of Mamata, there is speculation that Sourav Ganguly may join TMC.

This is the first time TMC supremo and West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee has set foot in Ganguly’s house in Behala despite sending greetings for many years. She spent over 45 minutes with his relatives.

Significantly, there is a very good relationship between Mamata Banerjee and Sourav Ganguly. In January this year, when Sourav Ganguly had a heart attack, Banerjee also went to the hospital to take care of him. Mamata has played a big role in making Sourav the president of Cricket Association of Bengal.

On Mamata’s sympathy for Babul Supriya, the BJP leader said, “She had not given any importance to him, when he was minister. She and her people had said many things to Babul. She may get relief after Babul’s resign from Ministry as he was an active minister.”

He also added, "Central is giving vaccine equally to every state on based on population. They do not have a proper distribution system of these vaccines.  They cannot distribute properly. They are doing politics in there. They are giving vaccines to their own party people and people. Common people are not getting vaccines", in reference to the state government’s allegation of not receiving vaccines from the Centre.

When asked about the court’s question of cost to prepare government homes, he said, "People do not have faith in the government, hence they are moving to the court. A lot of corruption was under the carpet which is emerging now."

He added, "Organise vaccination. People are not getting food, no law and administration. Solve those. BJP is in the ministry with people’s mandate. We have one of world’s most successful leaders Modi ji. He will look after everything in a proper way. The importance of Bengal is increasing. Four ministers are from Bengal."

He further dismissed allegations of the rising followers of Suvendu Adhikari followers in BJP and said, "Eligible people, who work hard are always being brought in front. Youth are getting chances to become ministers. We give scope to prove their eligibility."
